UPTET 2026 Notification

The UPTET 2026 notification was released on March 20, 2026 by UPESSC. This is the first UPTET exam in nearly four years, making it a highly anticipated opportunity for lakhs of teaching aspirants across Uttar Pradesh.

A major change this year is that UPTET is now being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) instead of the earlier conducting body UPBEB (Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board). This means candidates must register and apply through the new portal at uptet.upessc.org, not the old updeled.gov.in website.

Another important update is the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) system. Every candidate must complete OTR first before filling the application form. OTR is an Aadhaar-based one-time process done on the UPESSC portal.

UPTET 2026 Selection Process

Step 1: Appear in Paper 1 (for Class 1 to 5 teaching posts) or Paper 2 (for Class 6 to 8 teaching posts) or both.

Step 2: Score the minimum qualifying marks. General category needs 60% (90 out of 150). Reserved categories need 55% (82 out of 150).

Step 3: Receive the UPTET eligibility certificate from UPESSC. This certificate is valid for a lifetime.

Step 4: When the UP government announces teacher vacancies (such as Super TET or Assistant Teacher recruitment), use your UPTET certificate to apply for those vacancies.

Qualifying UPTET alone does not guarantee a government teaching job. It makes you eligible to apply for teaching posts when they are announced separately by the state government.

UPTET 2026 Preparation Tips

The exam is on July 2 to 4, 2026. Use the remaining time effectively with this strategy.

Start with Child Development and Pedagogy. This section is common to both Paper 1 and Paper 2 and carries 30 marks in each. It is the highest-value section to prepare first. Focus on Piaget, Vygotsky, and Kohlberg’s theories, inclusive education, and assessment methods. These topics repeat every year.

Use NCERT textbooks as your base. For Paper 1, NCERT books of Classes 1 to 5 cover Mathematics and EVS completely. For Paper 2, NCERT books of Classes 6 to 8 cover all Science and Social Studies topics. Do not buy expensive coaching material for basic content.

Practice previous year papers daily. UPTET has a consistent question pattern. Papers from 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021 are available freely and give the best idea of question style and difficulty. Solve at least one full paper every week.

Attempt all 150 questions. There is no negative marking in UPTET. Leaving a question blank means zero marks. Even an educated guess after eliminating one or two wrong options adds to your score.

Prepare pedagogy separately from content. Each subject section in both papers has approximately 15 content questions and 15 pedagogy questions. Many candidates prepare content well but ignore pedagogy. Study teaching methods, evaluation techniques, and learning theories for each subject.

Focus on Hindi grammar. Language 1 (Hindi) carries 30 marks and Hindi grammar questions are the easiest marks in the entire paper. Cover nouns, verbs, tenses, idioms, synonyms, and antonyms thoroughly.

UPTET 2026 Admit Card

The UPTET 2026 admit card will be available for download on June 30, 2026 at uptet.upessc.org. Before this, UPESSC releases the city intimation slip on June 22, 2026 so candidates know their exam city in advance.

To download, visit uptet.upessc.org, click on “Admit Card,” enter your registration number and date of birth, and download the PDF. The admit card contains your name, roll number, photograph, exam centre address, exam date, shift timing, and important instructions.

Carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid government photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or PAN card) on exam day. No entry is allowed without a valid admit card.

UPTET 2026 Answer Key

UPESSC typically releases the official UPTET answer key within 1 to 2 weeks after the exam on the official website. The answer key is released in two phases.

First, the provisional answer key is released. Candidates can raise objections against any answer by paying a prescribed fee (usually Rs 100 per question) within the given window. Second, after reviewing all objections, UPESSC releases the final answer key which is used for result preparation.

To check the answer key, visit uptet.upessc.org, go to the “Answer Key” section, and download the PDF for your paper and set. Compare your answers with the official key to estimate your score.

UPTET 2026 Result

The UPTET 2026 result is expected in August or September 2026 on the official website. Candidates who score the minimum qualifying marks (90 out of 150 for General, 82 out of 150 for reserved categories) are declared qualified.

Qualified candidates receive the UPTET eligibility certificate, which is valid for a lifetime. This certificate is mandatory for applying to primary and upper primary teacher recruitment in UP government and aided schools.

To check your result, visit uptet.upessc.org, enter your registration number and date of birth, and view your scorecard. Download and save the scorecard for future use in teacher recruitment applications.

UPTET Certificate Validity

The UPTET eligibility certificate is now valid for a lifetime. This is a significant change from the earlier policy where it was valid for only five years.

This means once you qualify UPTET, you never need to appear again unless you want to improve your score. Your certificate remains valid for applying to all future teacher recruitment exams in Uttar Pradesh including Super TET, Assistant Teacher recruitment, and other state-level teaching positions.

Candidates who previously qualified in any earlier UPTET cycle and hold a valid certificate can also appear again to improve their score. The higher score certificate will replace the older one.

UPTET 2026 Exam Centres (All 75 Districts)

UPTET 2026 will be conducted across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates select their preferred district while filling the application form.
